Emma

I began my Yoga journey in 1998 after an accident left me with severe injuries with metal plates and pins in one leg! I realised I needed a way to ease my anxiety and to heal my body. After my first class as a student in a small School hall in Norwich, UK, I was hooked!

After completing a few intense Yoga courses and two Reiki courses in India I decided next time to delve deeper and do a two month, one on one Teacher Training programme, it was a Sivananda course. Originally taking this course for my own personal growth, as many westerners do, when I returned to Australia I decided to share the knowledge I had learnt and am still learning everyday.

Sadhaka Shanti Yoga was created after I completed my Yoga teacher training in Rishikesh, India back in 2008. Today I also specialise in Mental Health awareness Yoga and Trauma Sensitive Yoga. Providing open studio classes on a drop-in basis, Mobile yoga for corporate businesses, schools and groups and private one-on -one classes.

I have been practicing for over 20 years and teaching now for over 10 years,

and have continued practice development in India when I can. I love travelling to the origin of this ancient way of life to continue learning the philosophy and meaning of a yogic life.

Further studies have included Reiki, Ayurveda courses, Meditation courses, Restorative Yoga course, Partner Yoga, Trauma Informed Yoga, Mental Health Awareness Yoga and many body alignment and intermediate practices.

I teach a mix of Hatha, Ashtanga and Sivananda classes around the Sunshine Coast in South East Queensland. Trained in Trauma Informed Yoga by the Trauma Sensitive Yoga Australia and TCTSY, and Mental Health Awareness Yoga by Dr. Lauren Tober, providing gentle body awareness and mindfulness.
