Kate is a qualified Social Worker (AASW) and dedicated yoga instructor with a strong commitment to social inclusion, social justice, human rights, and enhancing well-being for people of all ages and abilities. She is also an avid multi-day solo trekker.
Kate is accredited in Level 1 Yoga Teaching, Yin Yoga, Kids Yoga, Advanced Breathwork, Trauma-Aware Yoga, and Moral Injury and Yoga Teaching. She is currently completing further training in Restorative Yoga, Mums and Bubs Yoga, and the Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) Teacher Certification Pathway.
Her professional journey has been shaped by extensive career experience and personal resilience. After 23 years with the Queensland Police Service, Kate transitioned into social work and a new pathway focused on healing, well-being, and supporting others. Her lived experiences, together with the challenges encountered throughout her policing career, led her to discover the transformative benefits of yoga and inspired her to become an advocate for people affected by trauma and adversity.
Following her policing career, Kate moved into social work, supporting victim survivors of gender-based violence and current and former military service personnel. She also has a longstanding personal connection to the military community, being the third generation of women in her family to marry a returned serviceman.
By combining her yoga practice and teaching with academic qualifications and professional experience in social work and policing, Kate offers a unique and informed perspective. Her studies have focused on trauma-aware approaches to yoga, enabling her to create safe, supportive, and inclusive spaces where all students can feel welcome, empowered, and supported on their well-being journey.
